Tankless Water Heater in Avondale, AZ

Gas Tankless Installs & Service | Water Treatment Quoted With the Unit | Google 5.0 Rated

Weighing a tankless unit for an Avondale house comes down to a decision no brochure raises: whether to treat the water going into it, or to run it untreated and keep the descale schedule instead. What settles that here is the warranty, because the maker writes a hardness limit into it.

Tankless makers put a hardness number inside the warranty.

What People Say Before They Go Tankless

Most of these calls begin with wanting the tank out of the garage, and the floor space back, and that part is ordinary work: gas capacity, venting, condensate, and mounting all get looked at together. What makes it an Avondale job is that the same quote has to say what happens to the water before it reaches the exchanger. Both halves are priced together, while the choice between them is still open.

“The unit flashes a code, and the shower turns lukewarm.”

The maker reads that as a scale message.

Noritz's manual describes a unit that “detects Scale Build-up in the Heat Exchanger” and then flashes an error code on the remote controller. The same manual's exclusion list covers a heater that displayed the scale code and was not flushed afterwards. So the code is not only a fault light; under that maker's wording it is also a condition on the coverage.

“There is a softener in the garage already.”

Then the question is where it sits and how it is set.

A softener already in the house is the maker's own answer to its own condition. What gets confirmed on site is that the treated line is the one feeding the heater, and that the unit is regenerating on a setting matched to the supply your provider actually sends.

“We'd sooner skip the softener altogether.”

That is a choice you can make with the wording in front of you.

Some owners decide against a softener for taste, for sodium, or for space. That is a legitimate decision, and this page exists so it can be made knowingly: the maker excludes hardness damage from coverage, and the descale schedule becomes the plan in its place.

WHY PAVEL / ADP

Six Lines an Avondale Tankless Quote Accounts For

The maker's water-quality page is read out to you while the model is still being chosen.
Which provider bills your address is established first, because the published hardness for Avondale city water and for Liberty Utilities are different figures.
Treatment sits on the same quote as the unit, so the number in the warranty and the number your provider printed can be compared side by side.
What the scale code looks like on the remote, and what has to happen when it appears, belongs in the hand-over, not in year three.
Descaling is quoted at a flat rate, so the upkeep the maker's coverage assumes has a price you can plan for.
If the honest answer for your house is another tank, you will hear that, and the tankless conversation stops there.
When you call

Five Steps From a Hardness Number to Hot Water

1

Check the name on your water bill

Most of Avondale is billed by the city. Parts of the northwest, near Litchfield Park, are served by Liberty Utilities. The bill settles which published hardness figure your quote works from, and that is a two-minute job you can do before you pick up the phone.

2

Put that figure beside the maker's

Your bill decides which published figure applies, and the local section below sets both of them against the number in the manual. Every one of them is on the same side of it.

3

Decide the treatment with the unit

Softener, a conditioning product the maker itself names, or nothing: the choice is made while the model is being chosen. What each option does to the maker's coverage goes in writing on the quote, so nobody has to remember a conversation.

4

Install and commission

The unit is mounted, gas and water are connected, venting and condensate are run, and the controls are set for the house and the fixtures it feeds.

5

Hand over the unit and its paperwork

You are shown what the remote displays when the exchanger scales, what the maker asks be done about it, and where the water-quality page sits in the manual. The manual stays with the house.

What We Take On With Tankless Units in Avondale

The tankless parent page explains how these units make hot water and how capacity is worked out; the descaling page covers the flush itself.

Descaling is the recurring job on any tankless unit in water like this, and it is priced at a flat $250. Water treatment is its own line of work for us, and on a tankless quote it stops being a separate conversation and becomes part of the same one. Where a house suits a storage tank better, the water heater replacement page covers that route instead.

AVONDALE CONDITIONS

The Number in the Warranty, and the Numbers Avondale Has Published

What the maker's own manual says

Under the heading Check Water Supply Quality, Noritz America's installation manual for its NCC199OD tells the installer: “If the water supply is in excess of 12 grains per gallon (200 mg/L) of hardness, acidic or otherwise impure, treat the water with approved methods in order to ensure full warranty coverage.” Its treatment guidelines put anything above 12 grains in a band the manual labels Extremely Hard, with a softener or the maker's own device against it.

The warranty section is blunter still. The exclusions name “Water in excess of 12 gpg (200mg/L) of hardness” and a heater that “has displayed a [scale] error code indicating Scale Build-up, but the heat exchanger has not been flushed.” That is the maker's condition, in the maker's words, published by the maker.

We quote Noritz here because its wording is public, specific and numbered. The point is not the badge on the cabinet; it is that this class of appliance comes with a water condition attached, and the figure is low.

Where Avondale's published water lands against it

The City of Avondale's 2021 water quality report gives an average of 19.87 grains per gallon. Its 2023 report reached individual sources near the 40-grain mark. Those two remain the city's figures, because the reports that followed left the hardness row out. Liberty Utilities, which serves parts of northwest Avondale, averages 13.6 grains. Set all three against 12, and the picture is the same on either provider: the published supply figures for this city sit in the band the manual writes its condition about.

So the quote settles two decisions at once

The treatment question here is attached to the coverage on the heat exchanger, the component the whole appliance is built around, which puts it in the same conversation as the model number, the gas line, and the mounting position. Deciding to skip it is a fair decision to make; making it by accident, three years before the exchanger scales up, is the outcome this page exists to prevent.

What the manual says about the softener itself

The same manual adds a note about the equipment that solves the problem: “Water softeners may be regulated by the local water jurisdiction; consult with the manufacturer for code, sizing, and installation guidelines.” In practice that means the softener and the heater are sized and sited together, and anything the city has to say about the softener is asked before it is plumbed in.

The wording on this page is Noritz's, used because it is published and precise. Ask on the phone which units we are fitting at the moment. Whichever maker it turns out to be, the manual your quote is written against is that maker's own, and you get the relevant page with the price.

The manual asks for treatment, so a softener is what the coverage assumes. What the maker adds is that softeners may be regulated locally, and that its own sizing and installation guidance should be followed for the heater it is feeding. Our tap test reads differently from the city's average. City figures are averages across the sources feeding the system, and the 2023 report showed a wide spread among wells, so a reading at your own tap is the most accurate description of your house. Either way, the published numbers for Avondale start above the threshold the manual names.

Scale collects in the heat exchanger, the unit works harder for the same rise, and the remote eventually reports it. The maker's remedy is a flush, and its warranty excludes a unit that reported scale and was left unflushed. The flush is a flat-rate visit, so the cost of that route is knowable in advance.

Should we come to the house and you then decide against the work, the visit is $75. Book the work and that $75 comes off the bill.

Weighing a Tankless Unit for an Avondale House? Call American Discount Plumbing

Have your water bill to hand when you ring (602) 883-2787. The provider name on it decides which published hardness figure your quote starts from, and that figure decides how much of the conversation is about the unit and how much is about the water going into it.

One published offer is worth naming here: the 10% off a water heater installation covers a tankless unit, and it applies to the install line whether or not treatment goes on the same quote.

Read the maker's hardness wording yourself while the model and the treatment are both still open.
